Greetings from the frozen MN tundra! This week certainly offers us a timely, visual reminder that we are not in control. The weather outside may be frightful indeed – but we know for sure that Spring will come (in its own timing, certainly not ours)! Which reminds me…as dark as some days may look, as discouraging as the news may seem, as uncertain as life can appear – we know for sure that Christ will come again (in His perfect timing, certainly not ours)!

I don’t know about you, but as I longingly await the appearance of the Sun, I’m basking in the glow of the Son, whose resurrection and life we celebrated a couple of weeks ago. For me, that glow comes from knowing that “Neither life nor death, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:37-39.

Here are a few things to note and put on your calendar(s):

Faith Covenant’s quarterly meeting (This Sunday, April 14, 12:15pm)

You don’t have to be a church member to attend! There’s important stuff to hear and learn at these meetings, as well as new faces to connect with. If you consider Faith Covenant your home, please consider attending Sunday’s special business meeting. In addition to hearing updates from staff and council, we’ll be discussing and voting on adjusting our fiscal year calendar.

Big Bus BBQ (Sunday, April 21, right after our 11am service)

Support Faith’s senior high students going to Colorado this summer (Service Leadership Trip) by attending the Big Bus BBQ on April 21 right after second service. There will be a lunch, student musicians, and details of the trip and how you can help. Lunch is $5. Please rsvp to [email protected]. Consider bringing a financial gift to help pay for the bus to Colorado. Invest in our young people!

Restoration Covenant Church Celebration (Friday, April 26, 7:30pm)

Everyone is invited to a special worship service on Friday, April 26 at Minnehaha Academy! This service is part of the Northwest Conference Annual Meeting and will celebrate our daughter church, Restoration Covenant, as they are received into the Conference. Because Faith will be recognized for our support in helping plant Restoration, it is hoped that many will attend the service. No RSVP is required.

World Vision Partnership

We are excited to announce a partnership with World Vision! There are a couple of ways we are involved with World Vision, both as a denomination and as a local church. The first, a child sponsorship program titled Covenant Kids Congo, you'll hear more about in the fall. My family has been sponsoring children for 14 years (through a similar ministry), and it has been a huge blessing to us. Another very different way you can be involved with World Vision is by becoming a member of Team World Vision. Team World Vision is a group of people who train together, raising support along the way, to run a race. This year's local Team World Vision races include the Twin Cities Marathon and the Monster Half Marathon, both in October. All money raised goes to provide clean drinking water to areas in Africa where clean water isn't to be found. And it's important to note that you do NOT have to be a runner, or even an athlete, to train and complete a half or full marathon. Really, truly! I am living testimony of this - and this fall will be my 4th half marathon with Team World Vision. There are training plans for all kinds of people, even if you have never run before. Faith's team captains, Anne and Aaron Eicher, will be in the lobby this Sunday.

See you on Sunday as Pastor John talks with us about Prayer…Bless you this week!
